Why Austin Soil Matters for Your Fence
Austin sits on a geological fault line that splits the city into two completely different soil types. West of MoPac (Loop 1), you hit limestone bedrock 6–18 inches down. East of I-35, heavy clay soil expands when wet and contracts when dry — shifting fence posts 2–3 inches per season if they're not set deep enough.
Most fence companies use the same post depth everywhere. We don't. West Austin gets rock-anchored posts with concrete poured around limestone anchors. East Austin gets 36-inch deep posts with engineered fill to handle clay expansion. That's why our fences stay straight when the cheap installs start leaning after two summers.
